I personally find it hard to let go of things, especially if they meant something special to me. I've learned now, that it's ok to "not" want to let go. It's natural.
Over time, the feeling does change. It goes from being painful to something more bearable and eventually, even a feeling of gratitude for having experienced something that made you better, wiser and more complete.
lyrics
See your face as you turn to me, in the dying light
You’ve never been more beautiful, than you are tonight
And in your eyes I see the truth, darkness fades away
Rain fall on me one day, but it won’t be this day
Refrain:
And I know that I’ll get over this in time
But until then I will walk the path,
a man that’s in denial
Chorus:
Cause I, I
I can’t let go, I can’t let go
Singing I, I
I can’t let go, I can’t let go
See your face through the window pane, smiling back at me
Photographs of a seaside trip, waves rolling endlessly
I remember your hand in mine, endless summer days
And then you ask me when we grow old, will it stay this way?
Refrain:
And I know that I’ll look back on this someday
But until then I will walk the path,
a man who dreams awake
Chorus:
Cause I, I
I can’t let go, I can’t let go
Singing I, I
I can’t let go, I can’t let go
I can’t let go, I can’t let go
I can’t let go, I can’t let go
